Teriyaki-style bowl

Mixing a teriyaki style sauce with a sodium reduced demi-glace allows to reduce the sodium considerably while preserving the teriyaki flavour and makes for a healthier dish.

Ingredients

  • 500 mL (2 cups) of prepared Instant Demi-Glace Sauce Mix, Gluten-Free, Low Sodium
  • 60 mL (1/4 cup) of teriyaki sauce
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp) of sesame oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 kg (2 lbs) of pork tenderloin, sliced in strips
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp) of vegetable oil
  • 1.5 kg (2-3/4 lbs) of vegetables of your choice
  • 2 L (8 cups) of brown rice, cooked
  • 50 mL (3 tbsp) of sesame seeds toasted, optional

Preparation

  • Prepare the demi-glace sauce according to instructions on package.
  • Add the teriyaki sauce, mix well, and keep warm.
  • Sauté the pork with the garlic and the sesame oil in a hot pan. Set aside.
  • Sauté the vegetables in the vegetable oil and set aside.
  • Serve the cooked rice in bowls, top with the pork and the vegetables and cover with the sauce.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds to decorate (optional) and enjoy!

Serve on a bed of brown rice, vermicelly rice or quinoa.
