Ingredients

  • 750 mL (3 cups) of prepared Instant Chicken Gravy Mix
  • 75 g (3 oz) of butter
  • 60 mL (4 tbsp) of sesame oil
  • 8 chicken breasts
  • 2 carrots, peeled, thinly sliced and blanched
  • 5 green onions, chopped
  • 500 mL (2 cups) of mixed Chinese style vegetables, blanched and drained
  • 4 garlic cloves, pureed
  • 225 mL (1 cup) of hoisin sauce
  • 30 mL (2 tbsp) of sesame seeds, toasted
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 10 portions of rice, steamed

Preparation

  • Prepare the instant chicken gravy according to package directions. Keep warm.
  • Using a wok, melt the butter on high heat and add sesame seed oil.
  • Stir fry chicken breasts and cook to 95%. Remove the breasts and reserve on the side.
  • In the same wok add all vegetables and garlic and cook for 3 minutes. Deglaze the wok with the hoisin sauce and chicken gravy.
  • Add the sesame seeds and continue cooking for 1 minute. Season to taste.
  • Add chicken and cook until completely done. Serve on a bed of steamed rice.
